A favicon is the small icon in the browser tab. With this feature, you can set the favicon that customers see on your checkout pages, separately for each checkout profile.

Shopify Plus required. Shopify only lets apps change the checkout favicon on Shopify Plus stores. On other plans, Shopify rejects the upload. Your storefront (theme) favicon isn’t affected either way.
The Favicon page shows a banner that tells you whether your store can use this feature.

Checkout profiles

A checkout profile is a saved checkout design in Shopify. Shopify Plus stores can have several, but only one is published, meaning it’s the one customers see. The Favicon page lists all your profiles: The list shows 10 profiles per page. Use the arrows to see more.

Upload a favicon

1

Open the Favicon page

In the app, click Favicon.
2

Choose a profile

Click the upload icon for a profile with no favicon, or the edit icon for one that already has a favicon.
3

Add the image

Choose one of the two options:
  • File: drop a PNG file into the box, or click it to choose one.
  • URL: paste the web address of a PNG image, for example https://example.com/favicon.png.
4

Save

Click Save. The new favicon appears in the list.
Use a square PNG, at least 32 × 32 pixels, with a simple shape that is still clear when it is very small. Only PNG files are supported.
To preview a profile’s favicon, click the view icon. The preview appears on the right side of the page.

Remove a favicon

  • One profile: open the profile’s favicon with the edit icon and click Reset.
  • All profiles: click Reset All at the top of the page, then Yes, Reset. This removes the favicon from every checkout profile and can’t be undone.
Changes apply to the checkout pages of the selected profile only. If you publish a different checkout profile in Shopify, customers see that profile’s favicon.
