# Operators

> What each operator in the custom rule builder does.

An operator decides how a condition compares the checkout value with the value you enter. Each condition only offers the operators that make sense for it.

## Numbers

Used for amounts, quantities, weights and lengths.

| Operator | True when the checkout value is |
| - | - |
| Is greater than or equal to | The same as or more than your value |
| Is less than or equal to | The same as or less than your value |
| Equals | Exactly your value |
| Does not equal | Anything except your value |
| Is between | From **Min** to **Max**, including both |

>
> "Is greater than or equal to" and "Is less than or equal to" include the value itself. To block orders **under** \$50, use *Is less than or equal to* `49.99`, not `50`.

Amounts are in the checkout's currency.

## Text

Used for names, addresses, emails, cities and similar fields. Tick **Case sensitive** if upper and lower case must match exactly. By default, case is ignored.

| Does not contain | Doesn't include your value |
| Starts with | Begins with your value |

| Matches regex | Matches your regular expression |
| Does not match regex | Doesn't match your regular expression |
| Is empty | Has nothing entered |
| Is not empty | Has something entered |

## Lists of values

Type a value and add it to the list. Add as many values as you need.

| Operator | True when |
| - | - |
| Is one of | The checkout value is in your list |
| Is not one of | The checkout value isn't in your list |
| Has any of these values | At least one of the checkout values is in your list |
| Has none of these values / Does not have any of these values | None of the checkout values is in your list |
| Has any of these values (partial match) | The checkout value **contains** at least one of your values |
| Does not have any of these values (partial match) | The checkout value contains none of your values |
| Has any of these values (exact match) | The checkout value is **exactly** one of your values |
| Does not have any of these values (exact match) | The checkout value is exactly none of your values |

> **Partial or exact?** For the email value `jane@example.com`:
>
> * *Has any of these values (partial match)* with `example.com` is **true**.
> * *Has any of these values (exact match)* with `example.com` is **false**.

When a cart has several products, **Product is one of** is true if any product in the cart is in your list. **Product is not one of** is true only if no product in the cart is in your list.

## Yes or no

| Operator | Used for |
| - | - |
| Is true | Conditions such as *Customer is B2B* or *Any product in cart has a selling plan* |
| Is a PO Box address | The shipping address looks like a P.O. Box |
| Is not a PO Box address | The shipping address doesn't look like a P.O. Box |

These operators don't need a value. **PO Box address** uses the same detection as the [Prevent P.O. Boxes](https://codebeans-cb-checkout-rules.mintlify.site/preset-rules/prevent-po-box.md) preset rule.

## Compare with another field

Available for **Cart attribute** in Condition Set 2.

| Operator | True when |
| - | - |
| Matches checkout field | The cart attribute has the same value as the field you pick |
| Does not match checkout field | The cart attribute has a different value from the field you pick |

This comparison always ignores upper and lower case. For example, you can block checkout when a *Confirm email* cart attribute doesn't match the checkout email.
